Pet Friendly

in Noe Valley

In a city with more dogs than kids, it’s important to have a set of pet-friendly plants at the ready. Luckily, our temperate climate allows us to grow plants from all around the world, and we need not spare beauty for safety.

This garden began with a simple request; to extend the habitable space off the kitchen at the back of the house into the garden where the dog can be easily let out to roam.

Beyond this, the garden was to be low maintenance, yet a little wild. The result is a sea of textures and colors for the dog to dart through and the homeowners to look out over.

Bluestone stepping stones lead to a decomposed granite patio at the rear of the space, a surface that’s budget-friendly and easy to touch up to keep looking fresh over time.

Salvia, Penstemon, Catmint, and Bluebell Creeper provide a range of colors in the foreground, not just in flower but in foliage, all while being dog and pollinator friendly.
